Your Oktoberfest 2026 Camping Itinerary from Rome!

Depart Rome

Travel to your Oktoberfest campsite accommodation is by private coach, with one rest stop before arriving in Munich on Friday morning.

Discover Munich

On Friday morning, we arrive at our campsite in Munich, where we’ll check in upon arrival and grab breakfast. You can purchase your very own dirndl and lederhosen at the Stoke Campsite - save time by picking out your traditional Bavarian clothing on site! Your Bus2alps trip leaders will be leading groups to the festival and Munich city center throughout the morning.

Don’t forget to explore the beautiful city of Munich—Friday is a great day to join a bike or walking tour or visit the many historic sites at your own pace.

The night is yours to explore! Most festival beer halls close around 10PM, but that doesn’t mean your night has to end - head back to the campsite where the party will continue!

On the first weekend of Oktoberfest, the kegs are tapped on Saturday to officially kick off the festival celebrations.

Explore Oktoberfest 

Saturday is the busiest day of Oktoberfest each weekend. Bus2alps will organize departure times for you to join your trip leaders heading to the festival. Entry to the beer tents is first come, first served, so we recommend arriving at the festival grounds early in the morning.

Once inside, you’ll be part of the world’s largest beer festival, surrounded by travelers from across the globe, singing traditional Bavarian songs and experiencing the unique atmosphere of Munich in full celebration.

Your Bus2alps trip leaders will provide recommendations on the most popular beer tents to visit. If you arrive later and are unable to enter the tents right away, we recommend enjoying the festival grounds—explore the nostalgic Festzelt Tradition tent, sample the many food options, and take a spin on the carnival rides—until space opens up for the next round of entry.

If you want to explore more of Munich, we recommend visiting the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site, the Deutsches Museum, the BMW Museum, Olympiapark Munich, and the Munich Zoo.

Departure Day

Sunday morning is yours to explore Munich at your own pace or head back for one more day at the Theresienwiese.

Sundays at Oktoberfest are a bit more relaxed, and getting into the beer tents is usually much easier—perfect for a final round of celebrations before you head home.

Meet your Bus2alps trip leaders at your scheduled departure time, and then we’ll head back to Rome.

Munich Bike Tour: The perfect way to explore the city’s top sights while staying entertained and learning about Munich’s history and culture. Highlights of the tour include Marienplatz, Hofbräuhaus München, Englischer Garten, the Chinesischer Turm, the Surfer’s Bridge, and the Bavarian Parliament building.

Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site: Located about a 40-minute train ride from downtown Munich, this powerful and humbling visit offers important historical context and insight into the atrocities committed during Nazi rule in World War II. Admission is free for all visitors.

Deutsches Museum: The world’s largest museum of science and technology, featuring interactive exhibits and historic artifacts that showcase key milestones in science, engineering, and innovation.

BMW Museum: A dynamic museum experience that explores BMW’s automotive heritage through rotating exhibitions, showcasing historic models, iconic vehicles, and modern production technology.

Neuschwanstein Castle Day Trip: Nestled in the Bavarian Alps, this fairytale castle famously inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Visits are only possible via guided tours, making it a must-see cultural landmark.
