Your free walking tour of Porto meets at the statue of Bishop António Ferreira Gomes, opposite the Clérigos Tower, every day at 11am and 2pm. The beautiful historic centre of Porto has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 but Portugal’s second largest city has been contributing to world history for centuries. Porto has given us the Age of Discovery, Port wine and some would say even Harry Potter! It is an unforgettable city of hidden Baroque churches, Art Nouveau masterpieces, the iconic Dom Luis I bridge and cutting-edge street art.
Discover the many faces of Porto with a passionate local guide
Your guide will take you on a voyage of discovery back in time starting with the grand boulevards and shady parks of the upper city. We pass by the world famous Lello Bookstore, famous with Harry Potter fans around the world. Passing some incredible displays of ‘azulejos’, Porto’s iconic blue tiles, at the Sao Bento station, we reach the Cathedral where we find traces of the medieval past and see how Porto has been rejuvenated. We continue through the ancient twisted streets of the Ribeira district finishing with incredible panoramic views of the city and the magnificent Douro River, home of the Port wine industry.
