Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can we just come down and watch with the children? Is there an admission price to do this if so?
A. Spectators as always are FREE. Only those taking part in activities need to purchase tickets, but we do ask to keep the car park spaces free to paying ticket holders.

Q. I worry about parking. Is there anywhere nearby to park?
A. Parking will be tight and it is likely that the main car park may fill up. If possible, and you are local, please walk or cycle. If driving, parking is limited. Overflow parking is available in the public car park at the far side of Lake 12 off Station Road. There is a small charge for this parking, but there is a footpath linking back to the main entrance.

Q. Will tickets be available to purchase on the day?
A. This is one of our most popular events in our calendar and tickets invariably sell out. To guarantee admission, we highly recommend reserving in advance.

Q. Do I have to book for activity times?
A. No need to pre-book activity times. Your ticket allows you access the activities throughout your morning or afternoon timeslot.

Q. How long do we get on each activity?
A. To ensure everyone gets a chance to try everything we rotate around activities every 30 minutes. This gives everyone the chance to try different activities, take a break for refreshments and minimise queues.

Q. I've seen you have a new climbing and high ropes facility this year, will it be included as one of the activities available to try on the day?
A. Absolultely, you will be able to try 14 obstacle Sky-Line Aerial Adventure and Drop Zone included with your ticket price. It's open to anyone age 8+. Please be sure to complete the waiver in the link in your confirmation email before you arrive.

Q. Can we bring our dog with us?
A. Well behaved dogs are more than welcome at SCO and on the water with you. As it is going to be a busy day, we ask that you keep them on leads at all times and recommend a doggy buoyancy aid if taking them on the water.

Q. Will you cancel if it is bad weather?
A. No way - We love this stuff no matter what the weather. Having said that, if we get a tornado or lightening storm, we will likely make an exception.

Q. What age are activities appropriate for?
A. Most activities are best for those 8 years old and up to do on their own. We obviously ask that you stay on site, but safety cover will be keeping an eye out for them. Children age 3-7 can join in with most activities if accompanied by an adult on the water - E.g. Tandem kayaks, Canoe Tours, Fun Boat sailing, Katakanus are all perfect for parents and younger children to enjoy together.

Q. Can we get a refund if we change our mind?
A. We are unable to offer refunds after ticket purchase due to the popularity of this event. If your request is due to an unforeseen medical situation, please contact us with details of your request at enquries@southcerneyoutdoor.co.uk  

Q. Will wetsuits be available on the day?
A. Due to the number of people taking part and the type of activities on offer, we will not be able to hire wetsuits on the day. Lake temperatures in May are usually in the late teens Celcius but most activities will not require you to get wet. Obviously everyone doing a water activity will be equipped with a buoyancy aid.

Q. Are there refreshments available on the day?
A. Our Lodge cafe will be servicing food and drink throughout the day, with extended hours or 9:00am - 5:45pm. The Lodge menu will offer a range of options just for the day including Bacon Rolls, Hot Dogs, Chilli Nachos, Soup & Toastie, along with a range of sandwiches.
