Location

15:30-16:30 approximately, according to agreed Meeting Point

According to your itinerary earlier in the day, meet your guide at a location to suit yourselves – Interlaken, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Kleine Scheidegg, or Wengen. We then make our way to Allmend, a small railway station situated above Wengen from where we enjoy the vista across the Lauterbrunnen valley.
From here, we make our way on foot downhill through the alpine pastures to the tune of cowbells, taking in the views and insights into life in this part of Switzerland.

16:30-17:30

Alpine farmers move their cattle around their meadows throughout the summer months, according to weather and the condition of the grass. The cows are milked twice-daily and we stop to meet one of the farmers during the evening milking-session. Whenever possible, you will be invited by the farmer to try it out for yourself. Whilst visiting the farmer, you will also be able to hear and maybe even learn some of the strong, local dialect.

17:30-18:00

From the cowsheds, we continue our leisurely walk through the alpine forests above Wengen, back towards the village. Shortly before arrival back in the village we visit the farmer’s house and take time to sample the cheese in his historic cheese cellar, whilst also learning more about how the cheese is made. You will also receive some cheese to take home with you and have the option to purchase more. A locally produced Schnapps is also included.

18:00-18:30

From the farmer’s house, a short 5-minute walk sees us back in the village in time for the onward connections by train at 18:33 or 19:03. Your guide can also accompany you back to your hotel/accommodation if required.
