Terraba - Sierpe National Wetland Tour

In this wonderful adventure, we will visit the Térraba -Sierpre National Wetland. This area has a great biological variety and an incalculable cultural heritage. It is represented by a forest ecosystem, which is periodically flooded by tidal action and comprises the largest and most important mangrove forests in Costa Rica.

The wetland is immensely prolific in vegetation, the most important flora is constituted by hydrophilic species whose life cycles must be carried out in association with the aquatic environment. In addition, it has a wide variety of fauna associated with wetlands, serving as a feeding, breeding and refuge site for many species of wildlife, both marine and continental, such as molluscs, fish, aquatic birds, and mammals. All this, makes of this tour the perfect opportunity to appreciate a wonderful show where life is hidden and, in turn, expressed in every corner you look.

In this area there are sites of archaeological interest. It was inhabited by indigenous 300 years B.C. In this sector are the mysterious spheres carved in stone of more than two meters in diameter; as well as a variety of decorated ceramics, and gold objects, all of which constitute a very important part of the country’s archaeological wealth.
