What to Expect

Our unique walking food tour takes you through some of the most historic parts of Cape Town, while sampling the locals’ favourite food and drink along the way. You’ll be able to soak up the city’s diverse vibe as you visit 6  iconic and hidden food institutions and try some tasty treats and authentic flavours.

We’ll meet inside a centrally located coffee shop in the city center and walk, talk and eat our way through the city from there. While tour stops may vary slightly due to the number of guests and dietary requirements, usual stops include the Bo-Kaap for a taste of traditional Cape Malay food and a visit to an old fashioned spice store, and stops in central Cape Town for modern African food, Afrikaans heritage food, a biltong tasting and an artisanal chocolatier. We partner with small local establishments who share our passion for food, and guests will get an opportunity to meet and interact with some of the owners. Along the way we will share insights into local culture, history and food trends affecting Cape Town.

The tour lasts approximately 4-5 hours and the total walking distance is 3-4km. While the walking is mostly flat and not strenuous, you may spend a significant portion of the tour on your feet. A walking food tour is a great way to get orientated in an unfamiliar city, and we recommend that our guests join us at the beginning of their holiday.

Hope to see you soon, and remember, come hungry!
