Coffee Lands Birdwatching
Description: With over 200 recorded species, this forest reserve and adjacent shade-grown coffee plantations offer abundant birdlife that is easy to spot with the naked eye, making it a prime site for nature photography. By combining species from neotropical andean forest and nearby coffee lands you will enjoy time at the feeders, walking through orchid gardens and roadside mountain birding.
Availability: This tour is available every day of the year except December 25th and January the 1st. We ask however, that during the months of July and August you email us or whatsApp us to verify availability before making your payment.
Difficulty: Short, natural walking paths are available with a short steep descend into the tanager garden in the coffee farm.
Accessibility: This tour is for all ages. We are happy to arrange a customized tour for you, should you have a visual/hearing impairment.
Duration: The total tour time is 8 hours from start to finish with about 3 to 4 hours of birdwatching time at different locations.
Location: Located about 2.5 hours south-west of Bogotá in the rual areas between Silvania and Quininí sacred mountain.
Elevation: The average altitude is 1600 to 1800 m.a.s.l
Weather: The average temperature is 24ºC with highs of 28ºC during the drier months. About 10% of the time we visit here we experience light rain.
Includes: Private 4x4 transport from Bogotá, 4 hours of road side and coffee lands birdwatching, local vegetarian lunch and access to identification materials plus a local Spanish-speaking bird guide.

*This tour usually lasts 8 to 9 hours from start to finish*
- Early meet up (available south-west of Parque 93!)
- Drive out of the city (1.5 hour)
- Coffee break (15 min)
- Roadside lake birdwatching near egret nesting site (30 min)
- Visit the tanager garden and fruit feeders (1.5 hours)
- Lunch time (vegeterian option included)
- Return to Bogotá at noon
- Arrival at meeting point before 3.00pm
