Egyptian Cooking & Market Experience

Join us in the kitchen as we gather to cook this locally-rooted and delicious dish. While it’s true that Moussaka didn’t get its debut in Egypt, we’re lucky that it made its way across the Mediterranean and reached even our most rural homes ages ago, where each home-cook puts a twist on it. Together, we’ll experience a central local market visit to scout some fresh produce, and head to the kitchen to cook up our feast. So whether you’ve tried Moussaka before or not, get ready for some melt-in-your-mouth, tomato-ey goodness.

Location

• We’ll be meeting at the lobby of a vintage hotel in Downtown Cairo where your host home cook will give you a brief about the dishes we’ll be preparing and a few tips for staying safe in the kitchen.
• Shortly after, we’re going to walk to a nearby market where we’re going to tour a small vegetable shop and learn about Egyptian produce, how to pick it, and learn about the ingredients we’re going to use.
• Next, we’ll stop to buy some Egyptian Baladi Bread and head back to the kitchen to prepare our Egyptian feast.
