Packing List: Backpack to carry 2 liters of water each, your lunch and personal belongings. Ankle support hiking boots. Sunhat and sunscreen. Winter months lightweight windproof/ jacket.

Start your day early with a 6-7 AM pick-up from Muscat and prepare for a breathtaking journey to Jebel Shams, Oman’s highest peak. By 9-10 AM, you’ll arrive and embark on the famous Balcony Walk, a spectacular trail that hugs the rim of Wadi Ghul, often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Oman.
This hike offers stunning panoramic views as you traverse the edge of the canyon, where sheer cliffs drop dramatically below. The trail leads to the abandoned village of Sab Bani Khamis, a hidden relic nestled in the mountainside, showcasing Oman’s ancient history. For those seeking an extra challenge, you can continue hiking to discover a hidden lake, a secluded oasis amidst the rugged terrain.
Take a break along the way to enjoy a packed lunch, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. After soaking in the views and tranquility, retrace your steps back along the trail to the waiting vehicles. This hike’s combination of thrill and serenity, along with the stunning landscapes, makes it an unforgettable experience for outdoor enthusiasts.
You’ll return to Muscat by 7-8 PM, your heart full of awe from the wonders of Jebel Shams and the Grand Canyon of Oman.
