Day 1
Arrival, Hotel Check-In and Dinner cruise
Upon your arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will be met by our representative, who will assist you with the immigration and customs procedures. Then, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cairo by a private air-conditioned vehicle. You will have some time to relax and freshen up before your evening activity. At night, you will enjoy a dinner cruise on the Nile, the longest river in the world. You will savor a delicious buffet of Egyptian and international cuisine, while watching a live show of traditional music and dance, such as belly dancing, tanoura, and folklore. You will also admire the panoramic views of the city lights and the ancient monuments along the river. After the cruise, you will be transferred back to your hotel for overnight
Day 2
Cairo to Luxor
After breakfast at your hotel, you will start your full-day tour of Cairo, the capital and largest city of Egypt. You will visit the Giza Pyramids Complex, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. You will see the three main pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, which were built as royal tombs for the pharaohs and their queens. You will also see the smaller pyramids of the queens and the nobles, as well as the funerary temples and the boat pits. You will have the opportunity to enter one of the pyramids (extra ticket) and explore its chambers and corridors. Next, you will visit the Great Sphinx, the largest and most famous statue in Egypt. The sphinx is a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human, believed to represent the pharaoh Khafre. You will also visit the Valley Temple, where the mummification and purification of the pharaoh took place before his burial. After that, you will visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest and most modern museum in Egypt. The museum houses more than 100,000 artifacts from different periods of Egyptian history, including the prehistoric, pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Islamic, and modern eras. The museum also features a special hall dedicated to the boy king Tutankhamun, where you can see his golden mask, throne, chariot, and other treasures. Then, you will visit the Egyptian Museum, the old museum that was established in 1902. The museum contains more than 120,000 items, ranging from statues, sarcophagi, jewelry, papyri, and coins. The museum is famous for its collection of mummies, including the royal mummies of the New Kingdom pharaohs. You can also see the animal mummy room, where you can find mummified cats, dogs, crocodiles, and even a bull. You can also enter the Royal Mummy Room (extra ticket) and see the mummies of Ramses II, Hatshepsut, Thutmose III, and others. After the tour, you will be transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor, the ancient capital of Upper Egypt. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Luxor for overnight.
Day 3
Luxor Exploration
After breakfast at your hotel, you will start your full-day tour of Luxor, the city of the hundred gates. You will visit the West Bank of the Nile, where the ancient Egyptians built their tombs and temples. You will visit the Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried in rock-cut tombs. You will see the colorful paintings and hieroglyphs that decorate the walls and ceilings of the tombs, depicting scenes from the afterlife and the journey of the soul You will enter three of the tombs (extra ticket) and see the burial chambers of the pharaohs, such as Tutankhamun, Ramses IV, and Seti I. You will also have the chance to visit the tomb of Tutankhamun (extra ticket) and see his mummy and sarcophagus. Next, you will visit the Queen Hatshepsut Temple, one of the most impressive monuments in Egypt. The temple is built in a terraced design, with colonnaded porticoes, statues, and reliefs. The temple honors the female pharaoh Hatshepsut, who ruled Egypt for 22 years and achieved many accomplishments, such as trade expeditions, building projects, and military campaigns. After that, you will visit the Colossi of Memnon, two gigantic statues of the pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned over Egypt for almost 40 years. The statues are made of quartzite sandstone and stand at 18 meters high. They once guarded the entrance to the pharaoh’s mortuary temple, which was destroyed by an earthquake. Then, you will visit the East Bank of the Nile, where the ancient Egyptians built their temples and shrines. You will visit the Temple of Karnak, the largest and most complex religious site in the world. The temple is dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, the king of the gods, and his consort Mut and son Khonsu. The temple consists of several halls, courts, pylons, obelisks, and sanctuaries, each built by a different pharaoh. You will see the Avenue of the Sphinxes, the Great Hypostyle Hall, the Sacred Lake, and the Karnak Sound and Light Show. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Luxor for overnight.
Day 4
Luxor to Aswan
After breakfast at your hotel, you will start your full-day tour of Aswan, the southernmost city in Egypt. You will visit the Philae Temple, one of the most beautiful and romantic temples in Egypt. The temple is located on an island in the Nile, and was dedicated to the goddess Isis, the wife of Osiris and the mother of Horus. The temple features many halls, chapels, columns, and reliefs, depicting the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians. You will also see the Kiosk of Trajan, a graceful pavilion with 14 columns and a roof. Next, you will visit the High Dam, a modern engineering marvel that was built in the 1960s to control the flooding of the Nile and provide hydroelectric power and irrigation for Egypt. The dam is 111 meters high, 3.8 kilometers long, and 980 meters wide at the base. The dam also created the Lake Nasser, the largest artificial lake in the world, which covers an area of 5,250 square kilometers and extends into Sudan. After that, you will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, a massive granite monument that was intended to be the largest obelisk ever erected. The obelisk was carved out of the bedrock by the pharaoh Hatshepsut, but was abandoned due to a crack in the stone. The obelisk measures 42 meters long and weighs about 1,200 tons. You can see the marks of the ancient tools and techniques that were used to shape the obelisk. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Aswan for overnight.
Day 5
Abu Simbel and Return to Cairo
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to Abu Simbel, a small town near the border with Sudan. You will visit the Abu Simbel Temples, two magnificent temples that were carved out of the mountainside by the pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC. The temples are dedicated to the pharaoh himself and his beloved wife Nefertari, as well as the gods Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah. The temples are famous for their colossal statues of the pharaoh and his wife, which stand at 20 meters high and face the rising sun. The temples are also known for their remarkable relocation in the 1960s, when they were threatened by the rising waters of Lake Nasser. The temples were cut into pieces and moved to a higher ground, in a complex and costly operation that involved international cooperation and expertise. After the tour, you will fly back to Cairo and check in to your hotel for overnight.
Day 6
Hotel Breakfast and Departure
After breakfast at your hotel, you will have some free time to enjoy the city or do some last-minute shopping. Then, you will be transferred to Cairo International Airport for your final departure, with unforgettable memories of your 6-day classic tour to Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.
