Location
Day 1
Siwa Oasis
You will be picked up from your hotel in Alexandria in the morning and start your journey to Siwa Oasis. Along the way, you will stop at Marsa Matrouh, a beautiful resort town on the Mediterranean Sea, where you can enjoy a swim and a lunch break. Then, you will continue to Siwa Oasis, arriving in the afternoon. You will check in at your hotel and have some time to relax. In the evening, you will visit Fatnas Spring, a palm-fringed pool with a stunning view of the sunset. After that, you will go to the Siwa Market, where you can taste the local cuisine and shop for souvenirs. You will have dinner at a restaurant in the market, and then return to your hotel for a good night’s sleep
Day 2
Siwa Oasis
After breakfast at your hotel, you will start your exploration of Siwa Oasis. You will visit the Temple of the Oracle, where Alexander the Great consulted the god Amun in 331 BC. You will also see the ruins of Aghurmi, an ancient village that was once the capital of Siwa. Next, you will visit the Mountain of the Dead, a hill with hundreds of rock-cut tombs dating back to the 26th Dynasty and the Ptolemaic era. You will see some of the tombs with colorful paintings and inscriptions, such as the Tomb of Si Amun and the Tomb of the Crocodile. Then, you will head to the Cleopatra Spring, a natural pool fed by a hot spring, where you can take a refreshing dip. You will have lunch at a local restaurant, and then continue to the Salt Lakes, where you can float on the water and see the reflection of the sky. In the afternoon, you will embark on a desert safari, driving through the sand dunes and enjoying the scenery. You will also have the opportunity to try sandboarding, a fun activity that involves sliding down the slopes on a board. You will reach your desert camp in the evening, where you will have a barbecue dinner and watch the stars. You will spend the night in a tent, surrounded by the silence and beauty of the desert.
Day 3
Siwa Oasis
After breakfast at the camp, you will return to Siwa Oasis and visit some more attractions. You will see the Shali Fortress, the old mud-brick citadel that was the center of Siwa until it was destroyed by a rainstorm in 1926. You will also visit the old mosque, with its distinctive minaret, and the House of Siwa Museum, where you can learn about the history and culture of the oasis. You will have lunch at a local restaurant, and then start your drive back to Alexandria. You will arrive in Alexandria in the afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel. Your tour ends with wonderful memories of Siwa Oasis.
