8.00 am Embark on an enchanting journey from Muscat to Nizwa, a city steeped in history and once the proud capital of Oman. Nestled in the heart of the Ad Dakhiliyah region, just a scenic couple hour drive from Muscat, Nizwa beckons with its ancient charm and rich cultural heritage.
 

9.45 am Your adventure begins at the iconic Nizwa Fort, where you’ll step back in time to the 17th century. This majestic fortress, with its towering cylindrical battlements, was built to safeguard the city along an important trade route. As you explore its halls and passageways, you’ll be transported to a time when the fort stood as a symbol of strength and prosperity.
 

10.30 am From the fort, lose yourself in the vibrant Nizwa Souk, a bustling marketplace brimming with local color. Wander through lanes lined with stalls selling exquisite handicrafts, and watch as skilled silversmiths create intricate designs in small, timeworn shops. Here, tradition and craftsmanship come to life in a captivating display of Omani artistry.
 

11.30 am Next, enjoy a peaceful stroll along the ancient Al Aqur wall that encircles the old town of Nizwa and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. 

1.00 pm Your journey continues to the intriguing ruins of Tanuf, set against a dramatic mountainous backdrop. Enjoy a walk among these mysterious remnants of a village once bombarded during the Jebel Akhdar War and discover further the history of Oman.
 

3pm Enjoy a visit to the Oman Across the Ages Museum. The museum offers a journey through the rich history and cultural heritage of Oman, through an immersive and hi-tech experience, showcasing the nation's evolution from ancient civilizations to its modern development. With state-of-the-art exhibits, interactive displays, and carefully curated artifacts, visitors can explore Oman's maritime legacy, architectural wonders, and visionary leadership. 5 pm Depart from the museum. Watch the last sunrays of the day during a quick photo stop in Birkat al Mouz, a picturesque village surrounded by lush date plantations, where you’ll marvel at the ancient al falaj irrigation system, another UNESCO World Heritage treasure that has sustained life in the region for centuries.
 

As the day draws to a close and you make your way back to Muscat, you’ll carry with you memories of Oman’s rich tapestry of history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes—an unforgettable journey into the heart of this captivating land.
