Arrive Cairo, Egypt - Start of 15-day Egypt tour or Optional Pre-Tour: Palaces of Cairo
Welcome to Egypt! Our 15-day Egypt tour begins with your arrival in Cairo, where representatives from Inside Egypt will meet you at Cairo International Airport. You will then be transferred to your five-star hotel, the Marriott Mena House, our home for the next three nights.
Check-in time is 2 p.m. In the afternoon, guests will have time to rest after their international journeys.

Saqqara and Giza Plateau With Private Access
Breakfast at the hotel is followed by an orientation meeting with representatives of Inside Egypt.
To begin your journey through ancient Egypt, we'll depart for Saqqara, where you will visit the oldest pyramid in the world, the Step Pyramid of Djoser. While in Saqqara, visit the Unas Pyramid Complex, the tomb of Kagemni, and the Imhotep Museum in Saqqara. (If we can add Merirouka here as an extra.)
After lunch at a local restaurant, we will continue to the Giza Plateau, where we will have private access after normal opening hours. Private access to the plateau is possible thanks to special permission granted to Inside Egypt by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
We will enter the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the last of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. Especially for us, the guards will open two chambers - the Queen's Chamber and the Subterranean Chamber - that are normally closed to the public.
Following that we will get up close and personal with the Great Sphinx by entering its enclosure, another experience not available to the general public.

The Grand Egyptian Museum
Start the day with a captivating journey to the Grand Egyptian Museum and explore the majestic Grand Hall, where the colossal statue of Ramses II stands in all its glory. Marvel at the Hanging Obelisk, a testament to the power of King Ramses II, and admire the exquisite statues of Senusret I. Ascend the Grand Staircase, a gateway to the past adorned with 72 captivating artifacts that narrate the captivating tale of "The Journey Towards Eternity," and then wander through the interior and exterior gardens.
Lunch is at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, join the optional Old Cairo Tour and enter the real world of Old Cairo and its monuments. The visit to the Old Cairo district includes Coptic Cairo and sightseeing of the two first Christian churches (the Hanging Church and the Church of St. Sergius and Bacchus). Later on, you will visit the Amr ibn Al-A'as Mosque, followed by the Ben Ezra Synagogue.

Alexandria: Bibliotheca Alexandria, Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, the Graeco-Roman Museum, and Citadel of Qaitbay
In the morning we will travel from Cairo to Alexandria via air-conditioned coach. Here, we will visit the major sites of this coastal city, including the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Graeco-Roman Museum, and the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, and get a look at the Citadel of Qaitbay from outside.
Lunch at a seafood restaurant on the shores of the Mediterranean.

Siwa Oasis in Egypt
We'll depart after breakfast for one of the most serene locations on the trip: Siwa Oasis of Egypt. Located on the edge of the Sahara, its remote and captivating location is surrounded by lush palm trees, green fields, and natural springs. Lunch is at a local restaurant.

Siwa Oasis Tour – Oracle Temple - Umm Ubaydah Temple - Shali Fortress - Mountain of the Dead Tombs - Bir Wahed
We start our Siwa Oasis tour where Alexander the Great met his fate and was declared a god, at the Temple of the Oracle. Afterward, visit the ruins that are dedicated to the god Amun, the Temple of Umm Ubaydah. Next, we will visit the town center and one of the most iconic sites in Siwa, the Shali Fortress, with its ancient mud brick architecture. Following this "The Mountain of the Dead" to explore the ancient tombs cut into the bedrock, including mysterious inscriptions and vivid paintings that are fully intact to this day.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll experience a desert adventure with a 4x4 safari to visit Bir Wahed, located within the Great Sand Sea. You will get the chance to take a refreshing swim in the freshwater lake and in a nearby hot spring. You can also enjoy the soothing effect of the sulfur water in an idyllic spot surrounded by palm trees.

Siwa Oasis Tour – Taghaghein Island - Siwa House Museum - Zeitoun Lake
In the morning we will continue our Siwa Oasis tour, enjoying the idyllic island haven of Taghaghien. Relax, taking in the calming waters against the dramatic desert mountain backdrop within the great Lake of Siwa. Next, we'll explore an authentic Siwan home created from mud and wood, displaying all the fittings of a traditional local family at the Siwa House Museum.
After lunch, we'll continue our tour of Siwa Oasis and travel to the shimmering crystal waters of Zeitoun Lake, the largest salt lake in Siwa Oasis.

Cairo
In the morning, we'll take one last look at the stunning Siwa Oasis before returning to Cairo for more discoveries.

Nile Cruise: Flight to Luxor – Karnak Temple - Luxor Temple
In the morning, we will fly south to Luxor, where we'll check in to a luxury 5-star cruise ship to begin our 5-day Nile cruise.
Luxor was known in ancient times as Thebes and was made the capital of Egypt during two different pharaonic dynasties. The ruins of the ancient city and its necropolis are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Our first stop around Luxor is the famous Karnak Temple Complex, the largest temple in the world.

In the evening we will visit the beautiful Luxor Temple with its obelisk and majestic statues of Ramses II.

Nile Cruise: Valley of the Kings – Temple of Queen Hatshepsut
Optional trips: Early-morning hot air balloon ride and the Valley of the Queens tour.
After breakfast, we will take a motorboat across the Nile to the West Bank of Luxor. At the Valley of the Kings, we'll visit three tombs. You have the option of seeing an additional tomb, for an additional small fee – the famous tomb of King Tutankhamun.
Then we visit the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III.
Next on our itinerary is the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, one of the most distinctive temples in Egypt. Built of limestone, it is unlike most of the other funerary temples of the New Kingdom period, which were built of sandstone.
Lunch is on the ship. The rest of the afternoon will be free to rest, so you can enjoy the ship's sunny terrace and wonderful views of the Nile landscape, while we cruise the Nile River.

Nile Cruise: Edfu Temple - Kom Ombo Temple
After breakfast, we will visit the magnificent Edfu Temple and we will enjoy a local mode of transport, traveling to and from the temple by horse and carriage.
Next, we sail to Kom Ombo to visit the Ptolemaic-era Kom Ombo Temple and the Crocodile Museum, which showcases mummified crocodiles that were dedicated to the crocodile god, Sobek.
We will then continue our trip along the Nile to Aswan.
At tonight's dinner, we'll have some fun with a "galabeya party," wearing the famous Egyptian garment. Traditional music and dancing will accompany a delicious Egyptian buffet.

Nile Cruise: Abu Simbel & Nubian village
Our first day in Aswan will start with a journey to Abu Simbel to visit the majestic Abu Simbel Temples, which were built on the orders of Pharaoh Ramses II. When their original location was to be submerged by the construction of the Aswan High Dam, the temples were moved to higher ground.
In 1979, the Nubian Monuments from Abu Simbel to Philae were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Optional trip: Explore the interior of the mountain that was constructed to house the relocated temples of Abu Simbel.
After lunch on the ship we will visit a Nubian village.
Dinner will be served on board the cruise ship.

Unfinished Obelisk – Philae Temple – Flight to Cairo
After breakfast, we will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, the largest obelisk in the world. Next, a motorboat will take us to the Philae temple on an island in Lake Nasser. The island where the Philae temple complex was originally located was another casualty of the Aswan High Dam and the temple was moved, piece by piece, to its current location.
Lunch on the ship. You will then be transferred to Aswan Airport for your flight back to Cairo. Tonight, we'll enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel and celebrate our experiences of the past two weeks.

Egyptian Museum Cairo – Citadel of Salah Din – Historic Cairo with Khan el-Khalili bazaar
After breakfast, we'll visit the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to see the famous Tutankhamun exhibit, including the gold mask of the Boy King, among other stunning artifacts.
Next, we will visit the Citadel of Salah Din and the Muhammad Ali Pasha Mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque.
Then we will tour Historic Cairo, yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch at the Naguib Mahfouz Cafe, we will visit the legendary Khan el-Khalili bazaar.
