This 90-minute walking experience starts in front of Pancakes Amsterdam at the IJ, at the back of centraal station and ends at Kaap de Groene Hoop, at the edge of the IJ. You’ll explore 8 storytelling stops, including the monumental NDSM warehouse, the iconic Anne Frank mural, the Faralda Crane and the waterfront itself. Easy walking, mostly flat, with time inside the warehouse when open. Suitable for curious travellers, culture lovers and anyone seeking Amsterdam beyond the postcards.

From Sparks to Silence — The Rise & Fall of a Shipyard Giant
Walk through the era when steel, steam and sheer human muscle built colossal ships that sailed the world. Meet the families who depended on the shipyard, feel the thunder of industry — and then witness how, in 1984, it all came crashing down. When the gates closed, NDSM didn’t just lose jobs; it lost its heartbeat. This was the neighbourhood’s first death.
Artists, Squatters & Second Chances” — The Resurrection Begins
What happens to a ghost of a shipyard? In the 1990s, creatives moved in — welding ideas in the same spaces once used to weld hulls. Squatters and artists fought for community ownership, formed Kinetisch Noord, and transformed the warehouse into a cultural incubator where theatre, music, craft, activism and nightlife collided. This was rebirth by human hands — messy, passionate, and revolutionary.
