Ålesund The Atlantic Highlights Tour

DETAILS ABOUT THIS SCHEDULED GUIDED DAY TOUR:

Starting from the meeting point, you will embark on a bus tour through the city centre of Ålesund. This city is renowned for its beautiful Art Nouveau architecture. Most of these colourful buildings were constructed between 1904 and 1907, following the devastating fire in January 1904 that destroyed over 800 houses. As you travel through the streets, the well-preserved and stunning façades give you a vivid impression of the city’s unique character and rich history.

The excursion continues to the Atlantic Ocean Park, also known as Atlanterhavsparken, one of Northern Europe’s largest saltwater aquariums. Here, you can discover the fascinating marine life of the Norwegian coast, from colourful fish and crabs to seals, penguins, and even otters. With its numerous fish tanks and an interactive science centre, Atlanterhavsparken offers a fun, engaging, and educational experience for visitors of all ages.

To reach the next destination, the bus takes you through several underwater tunnels to the island of Giske, a relatively flat and highly fertile island. The island is dotted with farms where cows and sheep graze peacefully in the fields. Giske is also famous as the birthplace of the renowned Viking Rollo, the first Duke of Normandy and an ancestor of the British Royal Family.

The tour then continues to the charming fishing village of Alnes on the beautiful island of Godøy. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, visit the lighthouse, or take a relaxing stroll along the beach. It’s the perfect stop for anyone wishing to soak up the beauty and charm of the Norwegian coast. With lasting impressions and unforgettable memories, the tour concludes as the bus takes you back to the meeting point.

NB: Due to new regulations from the city for Mount Aksla, there is an influx of new visitors to Alnes lighthouse. On some occasions our visit to Alnes may change from an inside visit to an outside or panorama visit.

Tours conducted in April or October may be guided in English only, due to limited guide availability during the shoulder season.
