This area is full of beautiful landscapes, great culture, superb gastronomy and breath-taking history. This popular spot is much more than film set and I want to introduce its great natural richness and contribute to the conservation of the place.

Once we arrive to the area of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, if weather permits, we’ll go to a secret viewpoint hidden among the vegetation. There you’ll get an idea of the hike. Then we’ll hike till the top of the island for 90 minutes. On our way I’ll explain the importance of this place for the locals. You will discover the ecological importance of this environment and see plant or animal species you might haven't seen!

Location
We leave Bilbao early in the morning, so we are always the first group to arrive. After a short introduction, we enjoy the quietness of the place before the crowds arrive. Then, we walk to the viewpoint to get the best picture and we walk to the Chappel of San Juan, with several stops to talk about the history of the place, legends and tails and current uses. On the top of the island, we stay for around 20-30 minutes to enjoy the views of the Bay of Biscay, before we walk back to the parking. We never rush and there’s always time for a coffee or appetizer (not included). After recovering energies we drive back to Bilbao.
