Day 3
Alexandria's Ancient Wonders & Coastal Charm

Following breakfast, you will embark on a scenic transfer to the coastal city of Alexandria. Your exploration of Alexandria begins with a visit to the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa. These fascinating catacombs, believed to have been started in the 2nd century A.D., showcase a unique blend of ancient Egyptian and Greco-Roman architectural styles, reflecting Alexandria's rich cultural history.

Next, you'll see Pompey's Pillar, a towering red granite column dedicated to Emperor Diocletian, standing as the tallest ancient monument in Alexandria. Despite its name, it has no direct connection to Pompey the Great but offers a compelling historical narrative.

Continue to the Citadel of Sultan Qeitbay, a magnificent 15th-century Mamluk fortress built to defend the city. This impressive Islamic monument was constructed using remnants of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local Egyptian restaurant in Alexandria.

Your final stop in Alexandria is the new Library of Alexandria (Bibliotheca Alexandrina). Reborn in 2002, this architectural marvel is not merely a library but a vast complex where arts, history, philosophy, and science converge, serving as a hub for dialogue and understanding.
