Andalsnes the Troll Road and Troll Wall

This excursion starts with an exciting 15-minute film called “Trollfolk” at the Mountaineering Centre in the port of Åndalsnes. A perfect introduction to the myths and dramatic landscapes you are about to explore. After the movie, it’s time to set off and experience the real adventure for yourself.

First you will visit Europe’s tallest vertical rock face, the Troll Wall (Trollveggen). The Troll Wall features an impressive vertical drop of more than 1,100 metres. The summit rises about 1,700 metres above the valley base and part of the mountain massif overhangs the wall by 50 metres, adding to its striking and unique character. And if you turn around, you will see the iconic 1550 metres high Romsdalshorn.

From the Troll Wall, the bus will take you up the spectacular Troll Road (Trollstigen). This famous road with 11 hairpin bends was officially opened in 1936 after eight years of construction. A stop will be held at the top of Trollstigen, where you will find a restaurant, restrooms and a souvenir shop. Additionally, there is a paved path which will lead you to two platforms from where you can enjoy the spectacular views over the valley, Trollstigen, and the waterfalls Stigfossen and Trollfossen.

After safely driving down the Troll Road, there will be one more stop from where you can take the most amazing photos of the Stigfossen waterfall, before returning to the meeting point.
