Location

Overview about Abu Simbel:
The two Temples of Abu Simbel are considered masterpieces of ancient Egypt, reflecting the glory and grandeur of the new Kingdom.
The Temple of Ramses II, called the Sun Temple, was dedicated to the four universal gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Ra, and to Ramses II himself.

The Temple of Queen Nefertari is also called Temple of Hathor, after the goddess who was the wife of the Sun God, so in a symbolic way the two temples bring Ramses II, Nefertari, Hathor and the Sun God together as one.

The temples at Abu Simbel were formerly located further down the hillside, facing the Nile in the same relative positions, but due to the rising waters of Lake Nasser, the original locations are underwater, In the 1960′s, each temple was carefully sawed into numbered stone cubes, moved uphill, and reassembled before the water rose.

At the end of the trip, you will be driven back to Abu Simbel airport for your flight back to Aswan.

Upon your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel or Nile Cruise in Aswan.
